Five easy tips to help you get a better night's sleep

Aaand Relax! We have spoken to the A-lister's favourite relaxation expert, acupuncturist Gerad Kite, to gain some simple tips to help you get a great night sleep.

1. Drinking water throughout the day is essential to deep restorative sleep. The volume needed can be calculated by taking your body weight in pounds, divide that figure by 2 and that is the number of fluid ounces (UK) your body needs each day. Caffeine and alcohol are diuretics so add a further glass of water for every caffeinated or alcoholic drink.

Best Loved is proud to have several member hotels near the natural springs in Buxton in Derbyshire, The Maynard and the Cavendish Hotel. Filtered through a mile of Derbyshire limestone, this water is so famous that in Victorian times, people would flock to the town to take it in. And of course not forgetting our Hotels in Bath, The Abbey Hotel, Villa at Henrietta Park and No.15 Great Pulteney, home of of the world famous Roman Bath and Thermae Bath Spa.

2. Eat a hearty breakfast (7-9am) and conversely a light (mainly protein based) evening meal.

Two Best Loved hotels with the best breakfasts are Linden House, which is the proud winner of the AA Breakfast Award 2017, and Britannia House, where your host, Tobi cooks breakfast before your eyes.

3. Maintain a room temperature of no higher than 21 degrees. Our body naturally cools on the surface as our energy moves away from the external activities of outer life to the internal activities of our organs to promote healthy regeneration and healing throughout the night.

One Best Loved hotel that takes your sleep and wellbeing seriously is Roslin Beach, which boasts an environment of relaxation and rejuvenation as soon as you step in the door.

4. Be asleep by 11pm. The "night train" leaves at this time and once missed it is much harder for the body to find its natural rhythm to descend into deep sleep.

Best Loved hotel, Budock Vean is a sanctuary for rest and relaxation. Located on the bend of the tranquil Helford River, you're guaranteed a good night's sleep when you stay.

5. The bed is a temple for sleep only. Avoid reading/watching TV/ socialising on the bed. Respect the space that will promote essential and health-giving rest.
