Easter is almost upon us, which means it's time to celebrate a well-deserved break with your friends and family. I have an extra reason to be in a celebratory mood this week because one of our own Best Loved hotels, Shibden Mill Inn, has won the UK Food Pub of the Year prize at the prestigious Publican Awards. This rustic 17th century Yorkshire inn beat some tough competition to take out the coveted title in front of the 'who's who' of Britain's hospitality industry. Head chef Darren Parkinson and his dedicated kitchen brigade have done wonders in using the best of West Yorkshire's wide variety of produce to make Shibden Mill renowned in the county and beyond. The award is a wonderful testament to owners Simon and Caitlin Heaton, who have lovingly restored this hotel over the past 13 years.
I would also like to thank another Best Loved hotel, Grovefield House in Buckinghamshire, for their generosity. Best Loved is a long-time corporate supporter of the charity Just a Drop, which is dedicated to reducing child mortality around the world due to unsafe drinking water. JAD raised money last weekend in conjunction with London Marathon by sponsoring a runner and Grovefield House was kind enough to donate a prize.
