At Best Loved we are committed to bringing you the best places to stay in many different categories and budgets - from stately homes and five-star luxury resorts to country manors and cosy B&Bs. One of our favourite types of accommodation are the historic inns you find dotted across the countryside - those quintessential repositories of old-fashioned charm, excellent food and warm, personalised care.
From the days of yore, the country inn was a beacon of hospitality for the weary traveller, and that has remained to this day.
But don't just take it from me. As it happens, one of our very own Best Loved hotels, the Shibden Mill Inn in Halifax, has been crowned Yorkshire's Favourite Pub 2011 by Welcome to Yorkshire.
This 17th century inn is situated in the picturesque Shibden Valley and the award is testament to the hard work of owners Simon and Caitlin Heaton, who lovingly preserved the inn's sense of history and ambience.
They have imbued a sense consumate style while head chef Darren Parkinson has made sure the country inn reputation for great hearty fare is alive at the Shibden Mill.
